Gender Reveal Parties!
Gender Reveal Parties are a parties future parents host to discover and celebrate if they’re expecting a boy or girl. This party reveals a surprise of blue or pink to designate a gender of the unborn baby.
Relating this concept to course content the concept of gender binaries is largely influenced by film and media. A post feminist perspective of gender identity should not depend on one specific biological sex.
In addition this emphasized Judith Butlers thoughts in how biological sex is a social construction. Which is a perfect example of gender reveal parties. Gender Parties are the perfect example of gender stereotypes, which have been portrayed in media and films. Based from the outcome of these parties the unborn child is already expected to fulfill a specific gender. The child is already expected to be a specific gender, which is seen in the colour reveal of gender parties, this even prolonged to the babies clothing colours and toys.
